Kinesis and Nahdlatul Ulama Launch NUNOMICS APP

Kinesis is proud to announce the launch of the NUNOMICS APP, a transformative Shariah-compliant financial platform developed in collaboration with Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), the world’s largest religious and social organisation, with over 100 million members and followers.

NUNOMICS APP Launch Overview

Officially launched on 14 November 2024, the NUNOMICS APP introduces a cutting-edge solution for Shariah-compliant savings and investments through Kinesis gold (KAU), tailored to meet the needs of Indonesia’s population.

Exclusively operated by Kinesis and its local partners, this initiative complies fully with government commodity regulations.

Key Features

  • Shariah-Compliant Digital Gold: Ethical and secure gold savings through Kinesis gold (KAU).
  • Gold to Mecca Program: Seamlessly save gold for Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages.
  • Government-Regulated Framework: Operates under Indonesia’s commodities regulator.

The NUNOMICS APP is being introduced across NU’s vast network, ensuring accessibility for millions:
  • 25,000+ Islamic Boarding Schools
  • 125 million+ students
  • Integration into educational curricula
This strategic implementation leverages NU’s unparalleled reach to educate and empower communities with ethical financial tools.

Gold to Mecca Program

A flagship feature of the NUNOMICS APP, the Gold to Mecca program enables users to:
  • Save and trade in gold (KAU).
  • Select from government-approved Hajj and Umrah packages.
  • Effortlessly convert gold savings into travel arrangements for pilgrimages.
With Indonesian pilgrimages accounting for several billion USD annually, the NUNOMICS APP simplifies the savings and booking process, ensuring compliance with Shariah principles.

Great milestone that I'm sure reflects a lot of hard work on the part of Kinesis, local partners and the NU organisation.
It was a nice addition to include the NUNOMICS APP Walkthrough link in the announcement.

  • Integration into educational curricula
This strategic implementation leverages NU’s unparalleled reach to educate and empower communities with ethical financial tools.
We heard back in 2020 about the potentially strong referral network via the
corporate structure - leaders and officers in Jakarta, but also in the different islands at region, state, province, city, town, villages.
All these people are intimately involved with the organisation ... and will be promoting/incentivising people to get involved.

It's great to hear that NUNOMICS will also form part of NU's education to upcoming generations.

Hajj and Umrah packages

Here's a quick summary I found about the differences between Hajj and Umrah;

The Islamic faith holds five notable pillars that are fundamental to the practice of the religion. Among these pillars are the pilgrimages of Hajj and Umrah, two significant acts of worship that hold immense spiritual value for Muslims everywhere. While both involve pilgrimages to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, they differ in various aspects, such as their importance, obligations, timing, duration, and the specific rituals involved.
...
Key Takeaways

  • Importance: Hajj is obligatory once in a lifetime; Umrah is recommended but optional.
  • Timing: Hajj is in Dhul-Hijjah; Umrah can be performed year-round.
  • Duration: Hajj spans five to six days; Umrah takes 4 to 6 hours.

Both the event and walk through videos are really excellent.

The Kinesis team must be picking up so many useful pointers to help replicate this in other countries, thereby pulling even further away from potential competitors.

It's really exciting.

Excellent news, bravo!

I've kind of lost track of the various components of the Indonesian partnership.
Does anyone have in mind the current state of development of the various entities (JFX Gold, Pospay, etc.)? Are any of them also being launched, or not yet?
