Moderation of the forum

One of the things that has been implemented with the forum is a clear set of rules, which everyone has to agree to in order to post in the forum.
The rules are reasonably compact and easy to read. They can be referenced in the footer of the forum pages.
This is a definite improvement over the Telegram group and should mean that there's less of a feeling of arbitrariness over the actions of mods.
In general, my feeling is that forum members observe the rules.

Of course, there will always be an element of judgement needed on the part of the mods.
Sometimes, things which in reality are outside of the rules will be let go and sometimes the rules will be applied more rigorously.

As an example, a recent change to the rules was introduced here.
Subsequently a thread was started which fairly quickly contravened this.
In way of explanation, pointers to the rules and also to another thread were supplied to the original poster that mentioned the service that Jim provides.

As a group, I think the mods endeavour to be straightforward and provide some explanation of actions taken. However, this is unlikely to run to a formal detailed letter for a deleted post/thread. As numbers ramp up, explanations are more likely to get shorter than longer.

The thread/post deletion/move process provides the opportunity to enter a short explanation, which is then conveyed to the poster. I would expect this to be the method of communication.
In conjunction with this, it should be possible to determine why a post/thread has been removed by reviewing the rules. If this is unclear, you have the option to ask.
